Crack in head your opinion

Okay, I like doing things right and don't believe in the half a$$ method of repairs which is becoming the normal thing. This is a T/A head and expensive. When we cut the head for the hardened seat insert we discovered this crack. Though I don't intend to run this engine on the strip I think it will continue to chase and my engine builder is in agrerment. The guy I bought it from had his engine builder look at it and said put some super dupper epoxy on it and it will be fine. Your thoughts please?

Personally, I'd hang onto the heads but run another set. Cylinder heads get pretty hot and I'd hate to see that head ruin the rest of your motor on a really hot day.

  I bought a 440 crank recently from a guy that I found to have hairline cracks and he wouldn't take it back... I feel your pain!

you could drill it & put in a plug to seal it up , my guess is it should not leak with epoxy either

Yep, probably not too many issues with an epoxy - I's go with the metal fill myself but...either way. I did have a head that looked a bit like that but it was cracked down the valve stem as well - worth checking out a bit more I reckon. If it's all good, go with the fix you're happy with -  IMHO

That's a tough one, I feel your pain, however that is also a pretty common area to hit water on SB heads when machining for intake seats.
Personally, I'd drop back and Punt !
