I dont know how you could damage them with a torch, unless you are using a cutting torch,DA,lol. It only take a few seconds for it to come off and never gets hot enuf to do any damage.I could see how someone would say "I am not sure i want to try that because it could damage the floor"Unless you actually have tried it you wouldnt come to that conclusion, but to each his own,my 2 cents worth

Type II plastic media.

I think I'm gonna try the propane torch route.  I know it'll still be messy, but I don't think it'll be as messy as blasting stuff everywhere.  I'm not opposed to the blasting.  Something else I'm curious about is, Has anyone had any issues with media getting trapped inside the frame rails?

I didnt find it messy in the least, just scrape it off and throw it away. The frame rails are pretty open, just use an air gun to blast it out.The inside is a whole other story, after doing a complete inside blast you will find sand/media coming from places you never knew where there, but the peace of mind of having bare clean metal far out weighs the nuisance.Just spend EXTRA time with an air gun for the inside and when you think you got it all out............Do it again and again, lol

Ooops I forgot since it been a year since i did mine. The easiest way to remove is to put a small round wire brush with a 1/4" chuck(You can buy a 6 pack of these from harbor freight for under 10 bucks)in a air die grinder, once the stuff is melting just wisk it off with the wire wheel

hello,
Go thru heat up all the under coating untill it starts bubbling then go back and scrape it with a puddy knife then hit the rest with a wire brush. See once you heat it up good it cools down and turn very brittle. I have done a few of these now and i have it down to about 5 hours with all of it removed.
