Need a clutch recommendation
« on: May 30, 2006 - 04:03:31 PM »
I am ready to purchase a clutch for my 70 Challenger 383, about 375 hp. This car will be street-driven only. I want  a non-grabby, smooth clutch with the least pedal pressure possible, as I want my wife to enjoy driving the car. Any recommendations?

From what I have read on this site, the B&B clutch set-up ranks up there!  That is what I'm going to use!   :bananasmi

If you want a nice and easy to push clutch and wont be speed shifting, get the 10.5 inch diaphram clutch kit from summitracing.  Any name brand that's the cheapest will your wife will love it too.   No big leg muscle needed. You can also pull off the over-center spring.

If you want a very little used Center Force unit I can make you a heck of a deal , I removed it from a car last year with somewhwere around 500 miles on it & I will not put it into anyones car that I know
Be warned if you want to drive this car hard ever this will not be the clutch to use , they will stay on the floor on high RPM shifts & I have seen them not last long & break when driven hard

So Mike,
Just so don't shy away from diaphram clutches, almost every production car on the road after about 1980 something, came with this type of clutch.  I doubt that you'll ever shift without letting off of the gas so you should be okay.  Call Chryco, centerforce is a popular brand.
