New to the group
« on: June 02, 2006 - 06:33:24 PM »
Hi all, just found this site and I am excited about all the great information. I have a 1973 340 Cuda. It was my first car in 1984 and my father and I restored it and like all good 16 year old boys I kept blowing the engine or transmission or something until I did not have enough money to repair it any longer. It has been sitting in a building in TN now for 20 years and I finally have the money to start to restore it once again. I recently moved to PA and to my surprise, the All Chrysler Nationals are held in Carlisle which is only 10 minutes from my home. Of course I will attend the show in a couple of weeks and begin to plan for the restoration of my car. I hope to get a lot of good ideas as I do not plan on restoring my car to original condition but am considering a crate Hemi. I do not have any pictures of my car with me but will ask my father to look at home and send one that I can post. I hope to meet some of you in Carlisle in July.

Welcome to the site. I'd love to go to Carlisle in July but it's just to far for me to make the trip and make the trip out to the Mopar Nationals in August in Ohio. Your car sounds like a great project so keep us posted with some pictures when you get some to post.

Here is an old Picture

Here is a picture that I had taken some 20 years ago when I last had the car running. I want the new look to be quite different from my mid-80's version but it was such a fun car. Seeing this picture brings back many memories. My dad and I took this car to the Mopar Nationals in Indy in 1984 or 1985 and I got to drive it on the speedway. I was very lucky to get to drive on the track because just after we finished a couple of Superbirds were racing on the track and wrecked and then they closed the track for the rest of the event. Thanks for all the notes. Also for those of you who can't attend the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle  :crying:, I will try to take pictures of all the E-Bodies. I am also a bit of a Photo buff.

Those pipes were fun back in the day. I also had a full set of pipes with Glaspacks on the car with a diverter valve just behind the headers so I could change from running the normal pipes or open sidepipes. I thought it was cool in 1984 when I was 16 but it seems cheesy now :screwy:.  The pipes will not stay for the new restoration but they sure were fun.
