Near the starter relay on the inner fender, there is another over ride relay bolted there. It has a mechanics over ride rubber push button on the top of it. It has an electrical plug going into it with like 4 wires of which there is a yellow , and also a yellow with black tracer. It is about the same size as the regular starter relay.

thanks for the picI have that red plug but not the relay. Looks like the 2 yellows are   spliced  together at the red plug.

I guess when you order your harness, you will need to decide if you want to keep it original looking and also get a seat belt relay, even though it dosent do anything.

I pitched all that stuff on mine. But I wasnt after a "correct" look. All that you need is the yellow wire, and it goes into the starter relay. You dont need the yellow black tracer wire.

What I found funny was that the blue wire in the red connector dosent even plug into anything.

My car is no wear near original so I won`t be putting the seatbelt relay back in. I just what it to start. When the new harness gets here Do I just plug the yellow in the starter relay and ignore the rest?

Did you get a harness with or without the relay connector?

You can probably leave it as it is and then you might need to do something with the wires under the seat if that isn't done already. Check that there is 12v on the starter relay, yellow wire, when you turn the key to start.

If not then the yellow from the red plug in the seat belt relay is the yellow to use in the starter relay. I believe this will be the case. Please check that this yellow comes directly from the firewall connector, and has the 12v like above. You will probably need to move this wire to the starter relay, or jumper it to there.

I just modified mine a few days ago. I made my own harness to relocate the starter relay, delete the seatbelt relay and move the battery to the trunk. But I didnt check to closely before I took it apart, to see what you would do like in your case where you wanted to keep the original harness.

The seat belt interlock system was unique to 1974 models. It was to prevent you from starting car until you buckled up!! There is a relay under the hood w/ a "stem" sticking out of the top of it. Check you owners manual on how to use it.

Find the starter relay. Find yellow wire attached to it. This wire is the feed during cranking to trip relay. You will likely find no voltage while in crank position. Make a permanent repair by running a new wire safely from the yellow ignition switch wire to the relay. That eliminates the interlock
