904 trans removal
« on: May 31, 2006 - 09:55:59 PM »
I have browsed all 31 posts in trans and in classics. I am removeing my engine and figure to take the tranny with it. it is a 904 floor shift. I have to porp up the casing and take out the mount. remove the wiring and undo the linkage. I only have jack stands so am lying on my back. How hard to get at the linkage or do I do it from in the car( probably not) what else should be done-thanks

You kind of lost me on this one. Linkage just unhooks. :dunno:

OK, I'll take a look, fighting with the window regulator right now. When I unhook the tranny lines, will lots of fluid leak out? And I am talking about the shifter linkage, as I am pulling the trans with the motor and the shift linkage can stay intact for now

The front cooler fitting on the case will leak for a good while ( it is draining the converter). The lines themselves will quit pretty quick. You have to unhook the shifter linkage from the lever on the trans. :working:
