Cursed transmission!!
« on: June 02, 2006 - 06:03:30 PM »
The freshly rebiult trannys coming out of the `69 tomorrow and I swear it`s gotta be cursed! This is the same Fairbanks transmission I pulled from my `72 after 3 attempts by them to biuld me one that worked right but I was never happy with the way it shifted, always flared a bit on the 2-3 shift.I took it for a test run and to get some better pics( you guys are slacking not geting on me for new pics of the `69  :picture: ) and the 1-2 shift was solid but it would not shift into third gear.Got it back into the driveway and reverse was slow going in also. After doing a line pressure test we think it is a bad high gear seal which means pulling  it out and apart to fix,I`m not a happy camper!Hopefully that is all it is and we can have it up and running and soon as the new seal shows up which should be Monday.

My buddy gave me a hand doing it as he`s done a few powerglides and is a pretty good mechanic. Before the next rebiuld we are making the tools to check everything we can BEFORE installing it in the car so hopefully this won`t happen again!Car is on jacks in the garage so now you`ll have to wait another week for pics.  :working:  :eek4:

I got smart and yanked it out of my`72 to put in the four speed but figured I`d throw it in the 69 for consistency seeing how it`s more of a drag car.  :banghead:
