Can anyone recommend a supplier for a new 3rd member?
« on: June 12, 2006 - 06:48:39 PM »
Hi guys,

I need to find a supplier for a new 3rd member. I'm replacing my 741 w/3.23 for a 742 w/3.91 mayby with a Detroit Locker.
I'm not too fussed about highway running as the island i live on only has a speedlimit of 40mph. So i only go on the highway when i go away to a show and run what you brung drag racing. I'll get a GV later.
I've looked at www.ring-pinion.com and www.differentials.com any other recommendations. I'm guessing i'll need to call them to get what i need as the sites arn't all that user friendly. What info sould i gather before calling?

PS they need to be able to ship to the UK
thanks,

Word of caution.

I purchased a center section from Mancini about 3 months ago.
It whined REALLY badly, called them up, long, long, story short.

We just got a replacement yesterday. Don't know if it whines or not.
They said there guy has 30 years experience...or true and well but at the end of the day that unit was badly put together. All diffs have a slight whine but this was shocking...like a supercharger, a loud one.

I'll be trying somewhere else in future.  :-\

I've used Mancini before to get my TTI Exhaust, they seem to be very helpfull. But these seem to be rebuilt members, which i suppose is ok!!! but i'm looking to get a Locker like the Detroit or similar.

Me too, I've order plenty of times, tti exhaust included.

My only  negative against them is when it comes down to something big (like a diff) and something goes wrong they don't deal with it too well. Sure they can replace a gasket if it was sent out incorrectly or something but when they have to fix a problem or error of decent size they get tested and I found out they can't handle it too well.

A word of caution, I got one from Randy's a while back and although it seems ok, everytime I needed a tech question answered, they didn't have time for me. Their cust serv SUCKS!!!!!  They will me my last choice next time.

I think you may be right about Randy's. I remember some time ago trying to get a quote from them, they never emailed me back. I'll try them again though and differentials.com
