Steering Wheel Size Comparison (Photos)
« on: June 20, 2006 - 09:03:33 PM »

Got my new repro steering wheel for the 'Cuda today.

I decided to take a few quick photos of the size difference. The repro is the same size as the OEM tuff wheels, just slightly different in appearance spoke wise, grip wise and some other minor items, overall a decent remake.

The padded 3-spoke is the original wheel from the Challenger and is the same size as a rim blown wheel.
From these photos it will give some reference to size, there is a decent difference in diameter and grip width. For you tall E-Body owners you may want to think about getting one if you're not already.....those extra few inches really help getting in and out of the vehicle....

Hope this helps someone. Mods: I was going to post this in the Interior section but thought I'd post it here first as it's more a informative thread than a question type.

NZ, would it be possible to get a shot of them lying side by side showing the difference in depth, maybe with a ruler or something lying across them to show the difference?

I like the tuffs and I hate the Taxi cab wheels but The Tuff style make it a little harder to see the gauges

Very valid point Pete, this is true, it sits at a height which makes some of the gauges hard to read, whereas the larger wheels sit "above" the pods. You have to dip you head a little to see the entire gauges clearly.

The repro Tuff wheel is 27mm in width and 367mm diameter.
The 3-spoke padded wheel is 22mm in width (at the furthest point, being the grips top) and 404mm in diameter.

NZ, I appreciate your effort, but what I meant was both wheels lying side by side face down so you can see the difference in the depth of the mounting surface.

The hot flash I get from the Internet is... if you know the measurement in inches, multiply it by 25 to get MM. So that makes the steering wheel, 1.08 inches in width by 14.68 inches in diameter. Oh cripes my head hurts!!!   :pullinghair:
