Any carrier breaks for gear ratios?
« on: June 28, 2006 - 09:07:26 AM »
I have a quick question.  Are there any case breaks for gear sets?  I have a posi unit in the Charger's 8 3/4 489 case.  It currently has 4.30 gears.  I would like to switch out the gear set to a 3.55, 3.73 or 3.91.  I can't find my paperwork on the posi unit so I am unsure if it will accept the gears I want.  I know for the Jeeps I have had in the past, their are carrier breaks from 3.73 up.  Is the same true for the 8 3/4 or will I be fine ordering any of the above ratios?
I am replacing the 2.76 ratio rear in the Challenger, after Carlisle.  Thanks, John.

no need to relace the case , it will take both gears sets [the one you have now & which ever you decide to install ]

Of course! Hopefulyl with the Challenger as I have been busting my butt getting things done.  I am running into moer problems along the way than I am making progress.   If not my Challenger then I'll be taking down my semi-mopar 300M.
