Hey guys, I'm pretty much new to this, and I have a question about torque converters. First, what does it do, and second, what is the stall speed mean, and what is better, high stall, or low stall???

Basically it is a carefully designed fan that pushes fluid into another fan allowing no actual mechanical connection between input & output so ther is always an amout of slippage at lower rpm this slippage is high stall speed is where the slippage is virtually elimated & the engine will not rev any higher as the converter prevents it , the bast stall speed is always a balance , for milage you want as little slippage as possible but for power you have to allow the rpm to rise into the power band before the load is applied to the engine or the engine will struggle to get into the power band , the bigger the cam the higher the converter stall must be to work efficiently but if the stall is too high it will not lock at high RPM causing excessive heat & possible tranny failure as well as terrible fuel economy
