Antique Vehicle Registration in GA
« on: June 22, 2006 - 07:06:34 PM »
I'm trying desperately to get my '73 Cuda registered in GA.  (I'm transferring from OH tags)Insurance Company has sent info (supposedly) to the electronic database as required.  However, when we go to get the tags, GA says nothing has been filed and they don't accept the insurance identification card.  What else does a guy have to do to get GA tags on his car??????

Those of you who have been through this before, please advise me as to what I need to do.

Rev, Old School --- what can I do??????  All I want to do is drive my car like all of you!

I understand your pain!  It's your insurance company that has to move the ball.  GA will not do anything until the insurance co. has uploaded the info to the DMV's computer.  That's the only thing holding you back.  Our emissions is like that also (for our daily drivers -- none needed for anything older than 25 years), but it doesn't take anytime at all once they input it.  I got my truck inspected, they inputted the "passed" status and I drove right next door to get my tag.  It was there.

:iagree:  Stay after your insurance company and try to get them on the ball.  Also---make sure your insurance company is recognized in Georgia.........some of them can do business in most states, but not Georgia...

We went back to the D.M.V. today to try to get the cuda registered. The lady was very nice but mostly clueless.
Her: What kind of car is this?
Me : A Plymouth Barracuda.
Her:Is this a Voyager?
Me: No, a Barracuda
Her: Is it a van?
Me: no it is a car!
Her: Does it run on gas? ( she really asked me that, honest!!)
Her : please spell for me.
 Me: B  a  r  r  a  c  u  d  a
Her: What was the last part again?
Me: CUDA
Her: your insurance info is not in the system!!!
Me: yes it is. Has been in there since late May!!(Insert typing noises here)
Her: OH, here you go. That will be $38.00  :blah: :blah: :blah:

Wow glad it's over!!!
