Front brake.......
« on: July 01, 2006 - 08:09:14 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm changing front brakes (disk) on my friend's 71 challenger,
and was curious to know if there was a clip on the top of the inner
pad that clic into the bore of the caliper piston ??
I've looked in a maintenance manual but I don't see any.

Hope you know what I mean !
Thanks

If they are the slider type, single piston caliper, the little clip on top of the caliper hold down keeps tension on them. Make sure to bend the ears on the pad bracket itself to keep the pad from riding on the disc rotor continiously. If they are the pinned type, someone else will need to chime in.

You can see the clip spring on this one.

Here's the tab that you need to bend to keep the disc off of the rotor center hub.

its ben a while since i worked on a pin setup, but as i remember the pin aligns everything. thats not to say that some aftermarket mfrs arent adding clips. they like to do that.
