About GREEN BEARINGS;

"Green Bearing Company builds a bearing kit that replaces the cone-type wheel bearings. These are sealed roller bearing units that do not require end play adjustment, however they offer no side to side support, and fail quickly in street applications. These are drag race bearings only (the manufacturer even lists them under the "Racing" segment of their catalog). Green Part No. RP400. "

I wouldn't use them.

Point well taken - however, I replaced my original cone bearings w/ greens 11-yrs ago. I have put a substantial amount of miles on them in that time (exact figure unknown). On the other hand, the car does not get much road action (garage queen) so, what is the reason they are still in serviceable condition? Or is ChrisII the person I should listen to on the subject.

It has been a while since I've messed with them. Is the conversion back to the cone style easily done? Are the flanges available and from whom? Please advise. Thanks.

"i would not have any worrys about properly installed green bearings. ive run them on circle track stock cars for several years with no problems. if they take that sideload, sideload is NOT an issue. they do have to be installed at the proper depth axel flange to mounting flange, but they are a god send! no more leaking , or adjusting. they just work!" You can listen to whoever you want but I wouldn't drive cross-country with them with my family in the car.  Yours is a garage queen, like you said so you don't have to worry about it.

How many of you have had the old Daytonas or Lebarons that had ball bearing type front axle bearings and had to replace them? I've had to replace at least 6 of those.
 My Challengers and Cuda are now 36+ years old and still have the same original bearings and cones still in them.

ChrisII uses his car as a race car and does not take 4000 mile trips.
