By my understanding of the definition of Pro Street... The car has to have big tires. Like 30-33" tall, 14-20"+ wide. It needs coil over shocks, and a 3 or 4 link rear suspension. You should have a cage installed, at least 10pt, and the front end should run the thinner tires. The rest is up to you. If you cant do the fabrication, it will cost a lot of $$ to have done. Back-halfing runs from $5K-up, plus materials (materials including narrowed rear, wheels, brakes, shocks, springs, lines, tubs, rod ends and steel parts). Also factor in doing it twice. Once to fab it, then then again after it's all painted/coated. Also keep in mind, it has to be stable and safe too. The welds cant be snotty, or half done, things like fuel system and batteries need to be mounted, tubs sealed, 1/4s stretched..it's not a "buy th $500 Comp Engineering kit and drop it in" deal. Good rod ends are very expensive, and if the car is to be street driven, you cant run cheap ones for very long before they get destroyed. Also, braking system and suspension setup are critical. If it was easy, everyone would have it..lol. Properly done, a real prostreet can run as well as it looks, and be safe too.

I agree the back halfing cost is the killer. That's what's holding me back from getting my Duster up and running, oh yea and I need a firewall or I'll be stopping like Fred Flintstone  :roflsmiley:

You guys are making me foam at the mouth here. Just gotta add a huffer on top of the engine. Fortunately, I'll be lucky enough to have my father help me with the fab work, and engine build. He's the only guy I honestly can say that I'd put my life in the hands of his work. Just wish he could have gotten a chassis building shop going years ago.

The back halfing isnt the probelm..It's the parts that hang there...lol. I havent had t pay a bill like that, but I'd bet the final cost is closer to $12K when it's all said and done..That's assuming you drop off a rust free car, and pick it up ready for body paint. Of course, then you need the blower...lol.

I cheated! I considered all the above, time, cost etc...
I found a car done in the ebay prostreet section.
You can find turnkey cars and "rollers" which are complete cars without motor and trans but usually have rearends, wheels and tires, suspensions and even electronics already "backhalved" for MUCH MUCH less.
Try lookin at "racingjunk.com" for prostreets or even drag cars that can be made prostreet. That 10 to 12 grand will find you a complete car! If you're lucky like me you may find some killer Mopars that are already cut up and you won't have any guilt issues either.
I stole mine a couple years ago for 10 grand! Complete with fresh drivetrain and all top of the line parts from front to back!
(results not typical, your search results may vary but it's worth a try!)
My buddy bought this 73 for $7500, running right off the strip last year!
