Convoy from the Fairfield Inn?
« on: July 05, 2006 - 08:45:43 AM »
So now that the time is upon us, I have a question.  From the Fairfield Inn what time do people plan to leave and head to Carlisle.  Does anyone plan on doing a convoy or anything?  If so I'd like to go, but I just need to know a time so I can be ready.
Plus I'll be getting into Carlisle around 10-11pm so I won't be able to get the registration until Friday.  Is anyone else able to pick-up my registration or is it a in person type thing?

I suppose someone else could pick up your credentials, but they would need the card that should have been mailed to you when you registered. The best bet is to leave for the fairgrounds early to avoid traffic. It gets mighty heavy.

In order to complete pre registered cars you need the slip Carlisle productions mailed to you, for day of show registeration you of course also must be there with $$$. As far as going to the show grounds from the motel we do not necessarily wait and everyone leave at the same time, however the sooner you get there after the morning gates open the less congestation awating you and the less slow creep idling your car has to endure. Personally we make every effort to leave the motel no latter than 7:00 am, the motel is about a 15 mile drive west and whatever you do DO NOT miss exit 11, otherwise you will have a 50 mile trip ahead of you. The next exit and return access is Blue Mountain exit, my wife learned this the hard way about 4 years ago  :roflsmiley:

No problem, thought I would ask. So best bet would be ready to leave by 7am.  No problem, just trying to get my act together ahead of time.  I'll just get my registration that morning.  Good thing you reminded me about the slip, I might have forgotten it.  :banghead:

I know last year we didn't hit the road until about 8AM for the Saturday show. The traffic was backed up BIG time. Once you get off the Turnpike, it is a tad less than 3 miles to the fairgrounds, but I could have walked faster than it took to drive it.  :grinyes: In fact, I had Topcat in the car with me. He had PLENTY of time to get out and take photos of all the cars driving behind and ahead of me. I'm glad one of us was having fun.
