Hey Guys,
Just swapped out the 440 in Dads 69'RR for a 383 HP motor. The new motor has Electronic dist. so I change car over to electronic ign. I know that this is correct (used schematic from here).
The problem...When I use multimeter to measure Volts at battery to insure alt is charging the meter Goes bananas!!! Also, when I attempt to use light to time it, the timing lightflashes crazy!!
I have already called Mopar performance to insure that I had wired the new box and plug correctly, They are right. I replaced the voltage regulator.
I also tried a 2 wire and 3 wire alternator.
I found the problem when attempting to time the engine with the light. Every thing is very spurratic (spark, voltage) I am really stumped and hoping that you guys can help me out again.
(I can barely read the light on the mark and thats only way around at like 50* it gets too jumpy to throw a readable signal at other times.
The motor will start and run, but its really jumpy and irratic I know I can get it smoothed out but it is going to take some of ya'lls expertise!
( Meter and light are both fairly new and work well on my smallblock)
