6.4 Crate Hemi?
« on: June 29, 2006 - 06:30:43 AM »
I have heard the 6.4 392 will be offered in a create motor (505hp+) Anyone actually seen this thing, anyone know how much it will cost? I have some serious pipe dreams about dropping one in my cuda.

Ive seen the 392 a couple of times and nothing is really offiicial on the release of the engine. It is 'soppose' to be released as a crate engine by 2007 and then eventually make it into the new Challenger, but like I said nothing is really official. I also read in HotRod or some other magaine that the 392 dyno'd closer to 550hp, so it is one wicked engine. If you cant wait you cant always buy a 6.1 stroker kit from Hennessey, but be prepared to shell out some serious cash.....

Nothing official but here's something interesting on the 6.4L Hemi.

"Chrysler unveiled a larger 6.4 L (390.6 in³) engine at the 2005 SEMA auto show. This engine puts out 505 hp (377 kW) and will be available as a crate engine.  There are no official plans to use it in a production car, though rumors place it as the top engine in the 2008 Dodge Challenger"

The 6.4 is a stroked 6.1,the 5.7 could be stroked but the bore is alot smaller so it wouldn't make it to 6.4. The info I've seen on the 6.4 have the MSRP at $15,900,I'm sure the price will come down, and be more competitive with GM's LS7 which is $12,900.The HP rating advertised at 505hp,I've seen dyno #'s above 560hp
