All E-Body Automatic console cars (with factory "ball" and "T-Handle" shifters) are Slap-Stiks shifters.

All console equipped (C16 on FTag and BS) are slapsticks. '70 had the ball shifter, '71-74 had the T Handle.

If your fenfer tag has the 'C16' code then its is a slapstick floor-shift auto, if 'C16' is not on the tag then it is a colum-shift auto.

I have seen the console shifters that have been on E-Bay. Most say slap-stick at the bottom, but some don't. This might be meaningless, or a simple mess-up at the factory. I bought one by mistake  :banghead: , and  I didn't want mine NOT to say slap-stick.

I got a slapstik out of a '73 Satelite Sebring plus in a junkyard
It looked the same and worked the same as the slapstik in my 'CUDAs but it did not say Slapstik anywhere on it.

Another possibilty is someone had an original slapstik shifter but the cover plate was all scratched up so the replaced it with a plate from a later model B-body.  Very similar from a Magnum or Cordoba but the plates don't say Slapstik

That's a possibility. I was kinda wondering if the 71-74 B-Body plates had the slap-stick written on them.  :clueless: I just love discussing the crazy things Mother Mopar did.  :pullinghair:

My 74 'Cuda is a BS car & it is not a slapstick(don't ask how I found out) now it could have been changed over the years, thats for sure!
No fender tag to confirm this either! :( Rich.

Has a T handle, but your slap better be a very light tap or she's in neutral!
does not have the little"slap stick" on the base plate either, got a couple a "slap sticks" off ebay awaiting install! ;)
Only difference I can see is it's missing that plate that locks out each shift?

Your car would have been. All E-body console shift Auto cars used the Slap-Stik shifters.
Maybe you lockout piece broke off? Do you have the return spring?

Shift, shift and into Drive and no further. Push button to gain access to [N], [R] & [P].
Like Chryco said give it a clean and lube it up and it will work like new.

If that doesn't work install your new shifter(s) set up from eBay.

Someday I'll get around to pulling it out & see what is actually there, but I had a friend riding with me & he wasn't surprised it wasn't a locking shifter, maybe the stuff was changed over the years, or just the lock out broke & was disconnected. Rich.
