Removing heads and intake?
« on: July 23, 2006 - 01:11:30 PM »
I was just wondering what steps need to be taken to remove my intake and heads? As I am trying to trouble shoot my backfiring issue and I think it could be a stuck valve. :pullinghair: :banghead:

Wait!
Use the Loan-a-Tool at AutoZone and get a compression tester first.  Use it on every cylinder to check the compression. That will tell you if you have a bad valve.    This might save you lots of time and money.

Thanks I might borrow one from a co-worker then and use it although I had just done a compression test before installing the new spark plugs. The problem came around after the new carb came on when it was running on all 8 cylinders instead of 4.

I still think you have a bad cap or wires or have a wire crossed if this problem didn't pop up till after you changed the carb and plugs.  Have you had a "CAR GUY" look at it yet?
