My tranny has sprung a leak, so I ordered a new Mopar booted rear seal and yoke bushing.

Is there anything I need to keep in mind when I install them?

I noticed a notch in the outer red ring of the rear seal and a hole in the bushing. I'm assuming that both of these need to be pointed in a particular direction.

Is coating the inside of the rear seal with vasoline/grease done on these?

unless someone knows a trick I am unaware of the tranny has to be disassembled to replace the rear bushing ,
the rear seal cam be replaced easily just tap a screw driver or chisel between the seal & housing & it will start to pop out , when installing there is a Drian hole in the dust seal on the rear seal this needs to be facing the bottom in the 6 0-clock postion, I have a over 2" steel socket I use to install the seals , I have never used this socket as a socket ever ... a piece of tube can be used also

I think I would watch out for the gear lube, especially if you are doing this while under the car.

I just replace the bushing two months ago. I left the tranny in the car. I removed the seal, then took a 16 Pennie nail and ground down on side of the head. Take a small screw driver and slide it into the oil galley and bend the bushing just enough to get the nail in. When you slide it in give it a half turn when you get to the slot in the bushing so the nail is hooked into the bushing. Then I welded a nut to the nail and clamped on a vice grip and hit the vice grip with a hammer to get it out. It sounds harder that it is, it took me about a half hour. It did help me by lowering the back of the tranny down as far as I could. Good luck.

There is a special tool to remove the bushing with the trans in the car, napa may be able to order one or if the local trans shop guys are cool, they might let you borrow one...
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

before I get the  :useless:

although this is a snap-on one, lisle or k-d makes one similar to this one that is more reasonable in price.
