Yay, finaly.... Now for the fun though
« on: August 02, 2006 - 03:55:01 PM »
Well, I finaly got my Duster to the house..... Took me a while to be able to get around to picking it up, but I finaly got it to the house :smokin:. So, here goes the fun....  :working:  The body got a good look over, and it's got it's spots, but I'd say over all, it aint all that bad.... The floors only have a couple of spots of rust in them, but overall the floors are extremely solid.... The exterior has some rust in the lower areas of the car, and for some reason there's some Bondo on the rear panel where the tail lights are at. The trunk is shot though..... The engine bay has been painted sublime green.... Along with the front 1/4 panels.... How ever the rest of the car, is a combo of gold, red, black, ect.... I could only imagine what people were thinking when it was going down the road on the trailer.... :eek7: Anyway, now for the questions...  :screwy: So here we go. Since the only #'s intact on this car is the VIN, this car will never see original anything. The car has also already been stripped down, perfect for me this way, it's less work.. Perfect drag set up. Anyway, As I said above, there is some rust in the floors, but not much at all. So I'm trying to decide, since the car is lighter than I had thought, should I just replace the rust areas with new steel floors like the factory, or should I go aluminum? I am going to tub it, so I got some cutting to do... Now, as for the trunk area, I'm trying to decide if I should, again, go aluminum or steel? I will be running a battery relocation kit to the rear, and run a drag race fuel cell, so I'll be putting some holes in the flooring to get battery cables and fuel lines through the floor (using, of course, grommets not to cut anything by accident). Now as far as the front clip, keep the factory stuff, or look fruther into the fiberglass one piece front end? As I stated about the motor section, the more money involved, the longer it will take, but I'm not in that much of a hurry anyway, be a nice project to build over a little bit of time. Also, I'm planning on running sub frame connectors, and a 10 point roll cage.... So, anyone got anything?

Well, I'm gonna give this a shot, the pic compression is supposed to be the smaller size, if they turn out not to be, then can someone resize them, and I'll have to take another look at my camera settings..... :violin: Hope these give you all an idea for what I'm starting with.....

No problem. Someone made a point about the front clip appearing to be the next year up, being that I'm not that familiar with the Aspen, all I can say is, it's the way it was when I picked it up. But anyway, thanks in advanced.
