waterneck gasket question for 340??
« on: July 28, 2006 - 08:41:47 AM »
I'm just putting my 340 back together and have a dumb question.........does the thermostat gasket go on the manifold first and then the thermostat sits on top of the gasket................OR.................does the thermostat itself go right against the intake manifold and then the gasket goes over top of the thermostat :clueless: :clueless: :clueless:
I just want to do it the right way first so it doesn't leak!!!!
As Always THANKS!!!!

the relief for the thermostat  is built into the water neck on Mopars  so the gasket goes onth ethe manifold first & the thermostat ontop of the gasket , But I do it the opposite way & install the thermostat into the water neck & glue the gastet to the water nck & install onto the manifold last to keep the thermostat in place

I couldn't get the gasket to seal on my 340 6 pack intake, ordered a new thermostat housing and all, quit using the gaskets with the thermostat and used gasket maker instead, so far no problems at all.
