I certainly wouldn't contradict what Barry said, afterall he would know. However, before jumping to conclusions that you have #3 or #4, I'd make certain we are in possession of a Gran Coupe. this is where that VIN, fender tag and broadcast sheet become so important. Although I have heard that the console and floor shifter were standard in these cars, it would not surprise me to learn that there may have been a delete option available. That being the case, it would be somewhat of a rarity. Nice cars either way.

Nice to see some interest in Gran Coupes out there.  I would rather see them restored as Gran Coupes instead of being cloned into a 'cuda. 

Check the Data Plate for code C26.  This is the code for the overhead console.  It is standard equipment on GC's & SE's.  If the Data Plate does NOT have code C16, then chances are it is a column shift. C16 code is for the center console.  GC's shoule also have codes M21, M31, & M88.  I think M25 was optional but not sure.  the first three are the trim for Roof drip rail moldings (all e-bodies - i have yet to see any that don't have M21), Belt Moldings (door top - 'cuda's has this as an option - standard on GC, and decklind molding (This is the same as the '72 to '74 'cuda.  The code is the same for '70 & '71 'cuda, but it is different trim.  although i have seen two GC's that had the 'cuda tail trim - factory error??)  M25 is the Wheel Opening Molding.  I have had two GC's and both had M25, as well as all the rest.

Leather was standard, but cloth AND vinyl were options.  The vinyl has a different pattern & grain than the standard Barracuda/'cuda vinyl, as well as little medallions.

A/C was also standard, but optional delete. Most GC's that i have seen also had the V5_ side trim, but again, i am not sure if that was standard.

My current GC is an EB3/V1X with H6B5 interior - no blue leather or blue cloth was offered, so it had to be vinyl! 

It isn the rotisserie at the moment, and i am contemplating dropping in a 5.7 Hemi/auto.  Any thoughts as to keeping the color combo & the 5.7?

My bad.  M25 is the Gran Coupe rocker molding.  M26 is the Wheel Opening molding.  Some GC's came with M81/M83 - Front/Rear Bumperettes.

  Too many GC`s are cloned into `cudas.I would love to see your color combo restored stock as a Gran Coupe.There is a local red on white `70 GC in my area restored 100% stock 318 and all and I  over that car more than all the Hemi clones put together.Funny Hemi(clones) are commonplace now and 318 Barracudas are rare,used to be the other way around didn`t it?

I sold my GC in NH @ 1995 has anyone seen it?  It was Hemi Orange w/black roof had orig burnt int when I sold it. Sorry to Hijack thread.

My 71 has GC has the bucket seat/console leather interior with the overhead console. My 70 GC has the bucket seat/console with vinyl interior and overhead console. I was missing some of the GC trim on my 71 so I cloned mine into a cuda with the shaker hood. My 70 has an elasto front bumper and chrome rear bumper. I guess they thought that they would get both front and rear, but you had to check both places on the order form.
Has anyone seen a console that doesn't have the floor shifter in it? I saw one years ago and the guy said that it was factory legit.  I have several extra consoles and if I ever buy another car that has buckets with column shift, I plan to make a top plate with drink holders and use the console.

Was just looking at a very original (paint etc.) '70 Gran Coupe that was a column shift.
Green with 383 and A/C /ps/pb..sold for $35k....it was the Barracuda your friends mom would have drove when it was new.

i noticed that your dataplate did not have the M88 code.  curious.  what kind of tail trim do you have?  both GC's that i saw that had the 'cuda trim (versus standard GC tail trim) were both L.A. made cars.  maybe it was a factory thing?
