Correct Clutch set up ....340/ 4 speed
« on: October 12, 2006 - 08:20:43 PM »
Some where here I've  read  need one inch  of pedal  travel  .....how's  this  relate  to the adjust  rod  position  at  the clutch fork  and/or  the gap  between the flywheel  and  the clutch  face. I've  also  read  the gap  should  be .030  to .050" but  can't  get  there with the adjustment  of the linkage but  have  about  .013" . I'm  using  a NAPA clutch  assembly.

1/2 to 1 " of travel at the top of the pedal travel keeps the throw out brg from running all the time & failing
the separation of the pressure plate could have something to do with the style of clutch you are using , I assume a Napa clutch is a diaphragm style not the factory lever style , or it could be the wrong release fork length or the length of the levers on the belcrank too

So  then  it  is  a lever  style  pressure plate so at  1/2  to 1"  of  pedal  how  mutch  clearance  should  you  have  or  does it  even matter  just  so long  as it  is  dis-engaged.   thx  for all the info  as this  project continues. Just  filled the trans  this  weekend,  and  my  reverse  switch  is  'leaking'  fluid  so back to Napa store.....cheers
