Manual Steering Questions
«

I've read where all the steering gears will fit from 65-78 A-B bodies.
I realize there are differences internally like ratios and externally like housing material (aluminum or cast iron). I don't want a quick ratio since I'm running a big block in my B body, anyone know if there are differences in the 6 cyl vs 8 cyl boxes?
There are articles stating that a 72 Dart 6 cyl will fit the 70 B body but fit isn't the only thing I am concerned with here. Will any gear box hold up in a B body big block? Just some things I'm considering, I would like manual steering if possible. Thanks!

I've run six cylinder duster boxes on V8 cars and the only difference that I have found is the pitman arm needs to be changed.

I am not sure about all years, but boxes from 1969-71 A, B and E bodies are all the same. I have heard that they are the same from 1/2 ton pickups and vans as well? The manual box in my '67 Barracuda came from a '69 Road Runner, no problems.

Thanks guys,
sounds like it won't be too big a deal to swap and probably not to expensive. Better start keeping an eye out for one.

$32.00 Motorhome!!? LMAO, if the steering gear fits, that's well worth the 32.00 you paid!
I'll be curious to see if it fits, if it does, that should be plenty heavy duty enough.
Chryco, I've got a lead on one from another member in California. Haven't heard back so I'll let you know how it pans out. Thanks!

6 cyl boxes are 6 turns lock to lock, V8s are 5 turns.

Took one off of a 70 dart and it fit perfectly on my 71 Challenger. I even used the power steering pitman arm off the Challenger and everything fit perfectly.
