We pulled the TorqueFlite-727 out today. I checked the oil pan and the tail-shaft is long so I'm 97% sure it is a Small block. However, I would like someone to decode the trans numbers to see if it's a small block 727 and possibly what year and engine it came off. It's not the original transmission, I think. The VIN stamping is poor and I can only make out 2 numbers which don't match anything on the VIN, though, it's hard to read and I may have those 2 numbers wrong. The fender reads D34 which is a light duty Automatic and apparently it was replaced with the 727 I have now, what is D34? I have always thought it was a 904.
The car is an original BS23 Cuda that came with a 340 so I was surprised to find it had a "Light Duty" trans option.
D31 is a 904, D32 Heavy Duty 727 & D36 is a Small Block 727....so what is a D34 consist of?
Anyhow, can someone decode this numbers:
The upper case has a 4 digit number it reads: 102-4
The following codes are off the flange above the left side of the oil pan: PK3898865 583 6789
From the codes book I have it says:
3898865 =
Dodge Tr 77 8-318 & 360 B100, B200 & B300
Plymouth Tr 77 8-318 & 360 Voyager
Ramcharger 77 8-318 & 360 4x2
Trail Duster 77 8-318 & 360 4x2
That doesn't mean a hell of a lot to me, all I want to know is what it is? Small Block 727 etc....
Cheers,
Carl
