Internally balanced?
« on: August 09, 2006 - 09:02:24 PM »
Is it worth the extra money to have an internally balanced rotating assembly for street use. Planning on roller cam and rockers, Stroker kit in a 340 giving me a 416 c.i. pushing between 400 to 500 HP.

:horse: If your pushing a small block to those upper limets, i would undoubetably balance it. $$wise it's a drop in the bucket

I just built a 408.  You've got to balance the engine either way.  I went with steel crank (internally balanced).  The only reason I went with the steel is that I got a good price and it's easier to find a neutral balanced flywheel and balancer if your going with new.  My understanding is that either is good for street or strip up to 500 hp (which is the limit of the stock block).
