MY question is on my 73 cuda the rocker molding is a small chrome strip that gets mounted with small clips that are attached to small litte studs that are parts of the body, now i really dont like this strip . i like the 70 gills , will they mount over the small studs that are on the car? i really dont want to remove these studs... . somebody down the line might want to put it back they way it came from the factory. do i have any other options?
?

I'm a Challenger guy, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Those gills that you speak of are screwed on from the outside to the body of the car. Possibly they would cover up the studs you are talking about. That's a good question.

I do not think there will be enough clearance. They only way to know is to try it.

I just mounted a new set of Mopar rocker molding on my 73 Cuda. It didn't use studs. Plastic clips are held on with screws. The previous owner took the original moldings off so I can't say that this is the original set-up but there was small holes in the rockers that were the right size for these screws. I've got pics of the clips if you need them. I'm guessing the '70 molding mounts differently as it is much wider.

If it were me, I'd pull the trim, and grind off the studs. They can always be reattached with a Unispot. The '70 style are screwed in place, and ods are, at least a couple studs will be "in the way" of it sitting properly.
