My rough plan- a quick sketch
« on: August 09, 2006 - 03:59:12 PM »
Here is  aquick sketch of what I intend to do. This would keep the body mostly original. I may shave the sidemarker lights, and keep the cheesy white top as original. Then again, I may go black vinyl. I don't know.

Think 340. Maybe a white ghosted 340 hockey stripe, just because I think it's cool.

Slatflat wheels, 18"s at max. Dropped to the ground. Factory tinted glass, big brakes. G-machine.

I am showing a 70 front end, but I don't think I will clone it that way. I may leave it as a 72.

Your thoughts?

I would keep the top white and leave it with a 70 grill. :2cents:

are you going to leave the 72 tail lights? or are you going to put 70 tail lights in to match the 70 front grille?

I started with a 70 Challenger pic, so I did not change it to the 72 yet. I do not intend on cloning my car from a 72 to a 70. I just don't think it's worth my time.

I WILL do something cutsom. As for what, I have not figured it out yet. My cars have not arrived. 4 days left till pickup.

My suggestions:

I think the shaved markers and door handles look hot. I plan to do it to my E-body when I finally get one. :)

I think the white top would look awesome with a white interior as well.

If you go through the process of shaving lights and handles, maybe try filling in the front bumper license plate notch as well? It would make the front end look much cleaner.

I dig the chin spoilers too. This one looks great.

Also, if you plan to keep the front as a 72, I think a billet grille would look mean!

I'd go for a black vinyl top, unless as stated above you converted to white interior.

Good sketch/photo chop though mate....you're on the right track for sure.

Looks cool although I`m not a fan of shaved door handles.E-body handles are already flush and look good.

Since you haven't decided on "cloning" it yet! can I suggest you don't change the front end to a 70!! I once saw a challenger that had a 70 front end and a 73 tail end and boy did it look real weird to me! but then again I knew the difference! so maybe to those who didn't know it looked fine!
maybe I misinterpreted your picture I figured that was how you were gonna do it? maybe not? ok enough  :blah: from me!! good luck with your car! and I am done with my  :2cents: Oh BTW I love the color if that is the color you are planning on and it will look REAL nice with a white vinyl top and interior!! :2thumbs:

Thanks!
I don't intend on cloning it to a 70. That's the image I used. I will make a new one, so I do not confuse people.

72-TB3, White vinyl top, black interior. Big wheels. 340 motor. Not super valuable, just a good project for me to cut my teeth on.
No cloning to a 70 or 71. I will leave it as is. I think cloning it to a different year detracts from a good car. (no offense to anyone, it's just my opinion)

i think i would leave the door handles alone, as already stated theyre flush. paint em body color mabey?  as for wheels, in my opinion an 18' wheel belongs on a dump truck, cars look dumb with a wheel that big. i know its a fad right now on muscle cars but hey new kids on the block was a fad too arent ya gladd you didnt spend a few grand on them?   just my  :2cents: its your car , express yourself however you like. to me I think of G machines alot like the 70s and early 80s cars with huge fiberglass fender flares, scoops, huge metal flake paint in 4 colors, and 10 inch craiger SS rims  (  :eek4:  ). money spent on a fad that now deters from the value of the car. in the 70s and 80s few realised that these were going to be the most sought after mopars. we all know that now!

I do not want to hijack this thread so it is going to be quick.  The picture that willhaven posted, that is stock front spindles do you think?  The reason I ask is that stance is big to me and I love that stance.  Thanks
