318 Overheats on 80+ Days When Idleing....
« on: August 31, 2006 - 09:41:10 PM »
Stock 318 in '72 Challenger...when car was purchased noticed there is no shroud around the fan.....2 questions:

1-Best place to get a shroud;
2-Best place and part # to obtain an aftermarket (2nd) fan to stay cool....

Was in traffic at the Nats Cruise --Rt. 79 Heath that Sat Nite and it got interesting watching the thermostat gauge in my dash look like a second hand.......

Thanks In Advance

Also what type of fan do you have, clutch or flex-a-lite or?
I had a problem with my Charger overheating.  One day I parked it and left it running and when I came back to it it was at 230*!
Turned ou tthe clutch fan was shot so it was spinning but not really moving any air.  I grabbed a flex fan (because that was around) and put it on and the car never got over 190*.  It was running a shroud though.
