Anybody ever own a SRT4?
« on: August 18, 2006 - 07:03:36 PM »
Local dodge dealer has a 3k mile SRT4 Neon.....looks pretty clean and i can probably get it for around 17-18K. I'm having my friend who is a tech there check it out for me to make sure it has no "issues". He says they are pretty quick little cars, high-mid 13's right out of the box. Anybody here have any experience with them?

Have been a fan of them since they came out and they are certainly a neat little car. They are capable of 13.6-14.0 from the factory and with a couple hundred in mods they can get in the 12s. With stage 3 low 12s/high 11s are attainable....all for 3500. There are dozens upon dozens that are in the 11s and all they did was upgrade the turbo and get the supporting mods. This year was the first year that a handful of them hit the 10s. If you are looking to buy one then try to get an 04 or 05 because they have a limited slip already in them. Try to find an early 04 because they still have the 7year/70,000 mile warranty....other then that just remember that it is a performance car so you know it was abused a little and make sure to check for damage. Larry, I can't believe how well those SRT-4s can perform!!  I saw a couple at the Nats running 10.015-10.30's!!!  That's crazy for a four cylinder that still can be street-driven!!!! :faint:  Keep us posted with your decision....I know it'd be a fun daily driver or with that low mileage may be something to keep for later... :2thumbs:

During our 03 Viper Regional meet Dodge lent us two SRT10s and two SRT4s to whip the snot out of on the autoX. Two days of 1min runs = abuse like I've never seen onroad - amatuers, tire spinning, spinnouts, threshold braking, cone eating, you name it. At the end of the weekend both neons had won - no leaks, no breaks, even the brake pads had survived. Both vipers trailered out because of clutch issues.

SRT4s are the only new dodge's I'd spent money on. I'm waiting for a white/blue commorative edition to show up cheap so I can covert it into a track car.
