Fuel Tank Resto

Hi dudes,
I am thinking about restoring the fuel tank of my Cuda since an E.O.M Style new Tank is very expensive (More that 500$ !!).
The problem is that there is a lot of rust inside. Any idea how to deal with it? Is there any product to neutralize the rust?

SwissCuda, I looked seriously into re-using my tank and came to the conclusion that it was actially cheaper to replace. Here is a link to an A-body tank for $219.0+++ and I'm sure they can be purchased cheaper but being overseas you may have less options. There are numerous products available in the US that seal a tank, as well as some that proport to prepair but from what I can gather you would be better off taking the tank to a radiator repair shop that can boil out the insides prior to sealing.

Thank you bullit. I appreciate your reply. I think I will buy a new one. I have found two different models on the Year One catalogue: one costs $532 and it's a OEM Style fuel tank the second one it's a cheaper $214 and fits body type and year. I will investigate what is the difference and then decide if it's worth to spend more...

Did some searching on eBay & found several sellers asking as little as $160.+ $19.00 freight, most list one tank CR11B for '67 and an another CR11C for '68-69. When researching for mine it was obvious there is only one supplier for all of these as the part numbers are the same from all vendors.

As much as Year One charges for domestic shipping & handling I can only imagine that overseas charges would be prohibitive.

This guy did not list a-body tanks today but does list the sending unit for $50.00+ freight and filler tube grommet for $15 & ships world wide, might be worth contacting & see what he can do.  http://stores.ebay.com/Vans-Auto-Salvage-LLC/Store-Policies.html

Check out www.gastanks.com I think that is where most of the parts company get theirs that they sell.

$220 plus shipping,
on ebay you can find them for about $150 plus shipping....

they are high on the sending unit as well....unless we get some discount I do not know about...?
