727 , 2-3 shift soft/slipping

Hello There,

I have a 360cid 380hp crate, connected to a 727. My 1-2 shifts are firm and snappy, but going from 2-3 seems a little slow, not snappy, and perhaps slipping a bit under hard acceleration.  This is true if I leave it in drive, or manual shift.

I also bought a B&M TransPack kit thinking that would help, or would it hurt?

In addation the pack has 2 ways to install, a Sporty firm shift and a even harder shift. I like the "feel" of a firm shift, is the firmer setting a real "car jerker" though? if so, I dont think I'm that hardcore...

I am a Transmission Newbe BTW..

Any Thoughts?

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence. "Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Is the transmission fresh? If it is not it needs to be freshened up.
If you already have the Transpack kit go ahead and use it, I like Transgo myself.
Go with the "sporty firm shift" if you don't want to chirp the tires.

Hi,

No, the tranny is not fresh, I had it worked on 6yrs ago because it would not go into 3rd at all. So it was gone though then.

So, it if needs to be refreshed, what does that mean exactly? Just use the Kit? Do I need to use new "bands" Are they easy?

I've worked on many a motor, and 2 head jobs, but never did anything with a transmission short of fluid change and gasket.

It would be a good idea to install all new rubber seals (internal) and gaskets. You can look at the clutches and bands and tell if they are fine, any doubts, post some pics. :cheers:

Can I get a "rubber seal kit" somewhere? or just go to dealer and tell him?

I would diassemble it first to see what all you need. You should be able to get anything you need at the parts store.
