kickdown linkage adjustment

As far as kickdown cables I was looking at these for on ebay when I said about $30-40.

That's a Lokar kit. $55.95 new from Summit.(Don't go by the picture at Summit,that picture is for a 350 turbo  tranny. )

The lokar kit is the way to go!!!!! or just put in a manual valve body like me ....

What advantage does manual valve body give you...may want to try one myself.

Maximum pressure (squeeze) on the clutches and bands all the time. Firm shifting for the street though.

Is there nowhere to get the original linkage rod?  I don't really trust using a cable to push a linkage - cables are made to pull.  I can't find anything on ebay, year one, or even just googling it...

It depends on what setup you want. The solid rod that runs from the throttle linkage right the tranny you can find in most salvage yards. The 3 piece style with the pivot on the bellhousing is harder to find(at least around here).

The cables don't push,they pull. They mount to the other side of the tranny lever and pull.(Just like the OEM cable on a Dodge Ram PU)

You guys were right it was internal. I went through it and adjusted everything according to the book and it still wouldn't shift so I pulled it and used one I had laying around. I now works great. So much for the freshly rebuilt one. Thanks for everyones help and suggestions.
