426 crate motor in a Jag!
« on: September 25, 2006 - 01:41:30 PM »
Yes you read that right. I talked with a guy this weekend who hasa 1999 XKE convertible that is a lemon law return car he scored cheaply. He has parted engine trans etc. and wants to put a MP crate motor in it. His reasoning was that there is a ton o room in the engine bay for it! I advised against it, how could you recoup anything on this? Yeah eventually you could sell the Hemi out of the Jag, but why go through all of that. He showed me his mock-up on a build table of the front suspension which is redoing to accept the Hemi. He even went as far as to buy the plastic hemi for mock up. He has an old Hilborn injector Hemi manifold that he was gonna use with it as well. Talk about different! No pics too early in process to show you guys.javascript:void(0);

sounds like a unique idea but a waste of resorces to me. but if you have the time and money why not? I have seen all kinds of swaps for the Jag but the best one (for drivabilty and cost ) is the small block chevy kit. Plus the v8 chevy is almost the same weight as the 12 Jag motor so handling stays neutral .

The 5.7 Hemi might be a better choice.

 :iagree:  I've several Volvos with sb Chevies in them, some nice 240z scarab kits too.

The V8 pinto is a bit much though.  Too nose heavy.
