Passing the message along - 'Calender Issue'

The member that was removed from the voting decided to contact and ask me if I could just post this up for him since he is not able to. Don't shoot the messenger  , I'm just relaying the message, not taking sides or anything like that..

This is my 3rd cuda and have been a member of c-c.com when it first started when I got my current car. I was very excited about the calendar when voting started and saw that I began with 14 votes which was plenty versus others to get into the calendar.
When I told people at work they wanted to support me and this is where the problems began.
Revitup-Laura davis, who is the administrator, decided that there was padding of votes. Her original rules which I printed out stated that "all c-c.com members are encourged to vote regardless of the number of posts or length of membership." Well my friends at work each have their own computer under the same IPS address.
She accused me of cheating and wanted to speak to all those voters, but in the same post she decided, not only to take me off the calendar, but to also ban me from the website. I said that without all the facts this was not right, but she said she had all the evidence she needed.
I said that it's not fair that she became judge, jury, and executioner. This is why she started the voting over again and said that only current members could vote. There are others who had friends and family vote, but unlike me, they were given a second chance. The results are only visible to her so I told her that the results might be biased. I asked if she truly believed that her actions were just that all the members should decide my fate after posting the facts.
If she has nothing to hide or be ashamed of then I would like this information to be revealed to restore my membership, or at least my integrity.

I just find it so hard to believe this is such a HUGE deal to some people, that they would try to get friends and family members to join here, just to pad their votes. Getting on the calendar does not make you and elected official. Nor do you get any prize money.

I don't think " new " members should be allowed to vote (that registered their memberships on the day voting started). If I won, I would want to win because of the people on this forum voted for me, not because I got a bunch of friends and family to sign up a membership and then vote for me.

I ,,,Uh,,,, well..... I am newer here and feel that being what I have read and such, that the voting should be limited to people of a post count of lets say   50  or better.
This would "weed" out the Johnny come yesterdays that joined for the sole purpose of voting. (no matter the reason, or relation to the participant)

Nobody is going to join a sight and have to make 50 post just to help out a friend, or family member in a voting process.

I am new here, but I also agree that getting a bunch of friends to sign up just win a vote is over the top.  I plan to submit a photo for next year (2008) and I think that a post count is a good idea.

  but didn't i read in the rules that you had to have so many post and be joined up for a minimum of 2 months to be elgible for your car to be in the calender ?

I have always found Laura as well as the other Moderators of this board to be very fair and impartial in there decision that effect all of us. I do not have in my view the same picture that Laura had but I do trust her to make the right decision.

Being judge by the members of this board to have a car worthy of being on the calander is an honor one that I hope someday I will have, but it is not the end all do all. I would only want to except the honor if it was voted on by true members of this board not by anyone who only registered to get me over the top. Voting should be limited to members with a post count of 100 or more. If that becomes the rule than we can avoid this type of distraction in the future.

Essentially, yes. If someone did indeed vote at work and/or his house they would all be under the same IP Address. However, the fact that he rallied multiple people together to vote for him sortof gives him an unfair advantage.

Also, the fact that it was within 60 seconds of registering kindof leads me to believe that this person knew what they were doing. Even if he had been helping them in the registration process, as well as pointing them where to go to vote real quick... I would assume they would want to look at the other cars to vote.

I don't know about you, but I know my way around the forums quite well.... and when I went to vote, it took me at least 20 minutes to decide who I wanted. But then again, I'm quite picky.. and there were soooo many nice cars to choose from! It was a tough vote for me, and I had a good idea of who I wanted to see in the calendar for at least 5 cars.

Anyway, that's just my opinion on the matter.

No one has voted for me from my family or any friends (they don't know what a space bar is) lol Yip, it's only a calendar (though it's an honor) I'm not really bothered about getting on or not, I know Lucy is sexy (to me) and that's all that really matters......there are cars that are sexy as hell on there (all of them) but some photos let them down. Put all the cars in person and voting would probably change dramatically.

I agree with Terry (TTMan), I think voting should be limited to members with 100 posts or more. Come July next year we'll see an increase of posters rushing to 50.....at least 100 gives us more dedication and comfort.

As for "John 73cuda426" you may have been in the right but still the same IP address and all within a short period of time gets us thinking......they may have all been your friends and maybe you're telling the truth but you could have also been egging them on asking them to all vote for you, "oh! how wonderful, the calendar will soon be mine bwahahaaa!!" ....lol Look, debating over the Internet is stupid and even worse when you can't defend yourself or reply, guess the good that has come of this is that we know for next time...............

John, you've just had your time in the limelight and I believe the folks here have spoken their minds.  I'm locking this thread now so we can move on. 

I appreciate the kind words and trust that some of you have spoken on my behalf.  I didn't take my decision lightly and from the response and arrogant/rude attitude I have received from this person, I believe we are better off in the long run.  The logs don't lie.  The odds of 15 people registering one after the other (no overlapping), going to that particular thread, voting for one person and logging off all under 60 seconds and just in time for the next person to register, is just mindboggling....not to mention extremely unlikely.  Bye John.
