picture link ?
« on: November 15, 2006 - 06:07:32 PM »
Has any one else noticed a problem when you put a picture link img- /img in their thread to show a pic and it shows , then they might check back later and the pic is gone but if you go to check edit , the links are still there but no pic shows?? :clueless:

Hmmm...I haven't noticed either.  Do you have a link from a thread that does this so I can see?

I've had that happen to me before.

I wonder if it has to do with the server that you got the pic from?  Like if they go down or something?

I don't think it's an extension type thing as the pic shows up initially and then it disapperars.

This happened with my avatar pic.  Would be there then it disappears!

I used a different pic and it solved the problem.

By the time you think you are crazy, others already have noticed.  :smilielol:  :poopoke:

I've had this happen to my avatar pic. I just figured the site was having a bad day at the office.  :screwy:

Actually I think I've had something like that happen but I blamed it on my PC.  Usually the pic was large and it would show for a couple seconds as it downloaded into the thread and then dissappear.  I could use the file link at the bottom of the missing pic, double click and it would open up just fine in my Adobe photo program.  I have also rebooted my PC and had it show up no problem after the fresh start.  I just assumed it was this old windows 98 platform I'm using.   :grinyes:

I got one! Here is a thread with a link to a picture in it (my last reply) it should show a pic of a '92 Dynasty . Today I don't see it but the link is still there when I look at edit. :dunno:

This is interesting.  I went to the thread and saw the post you were referring to...no picture.  Went to edit your post to see the img tags...they were there.  I put a space or a line return after the [/img] and now it shows up.  Very, very strange.

If the pic is missing it is because it has been moved or deleted from the server where it is/was hosted OR your browser hasn't had time to retrieve the picture or the link timed out (maybe the connection to that server is slow). When someone uses the img tags it's usually because the picture is hosted somewhere else and the forum software cannot guarantee that the picture will exist forever. Uploading the pictures to this site is more reliable (unless the image directory accidently gets deleted or cleaned out too aggressively). You can copy/paste the address between the img tags into your browser's address bar to see if the link is still valid (you'll get a 404 error or the picture).
