Cuda rallye hood scoop inserts
« on: August 14, 2006 - 09:11:58 PM »
Does anyone know if anyone make reproductions of the Rallye hood scoop inserts for cuda's. I have posted a pic of my hood. I am missing the inner gasket and inserts with the lines in it.

thanks

Thanks 'CUDA360,

I have been looking at a set on ebay but like usual they are used. I was just wondering maybe someone made some nice fresh ones...:)

I have a pair powder coated silver . . . look like brand new IMO.   I think someone will have the gasket but not sure I've ever seen any advertised??   :clueless:

Went to my mechanic to check on my car today and it sounds awesome. Replaced my mufflers with new flowmasters. I was all happy until I went under the car while it was on the lift. The front floor pans are rusted through. Right near my mechanic is a body shop and I had the body shop owner come over to look at my car. I have a cracked grill with a piece missing which I have. He says he can fix it. I showed him the pans and say  he can repair them but he'll have to do it from the inside. I priced them at year one and at least they aren't very expensive. I showed him the rear quarter panel bumps and around the rear window. He told me he dosen't like to use bondo he would rather cut out the bad parts and replace with sheet metal. To make a long story short all the work comes out to about 6000 dollars. The paint will cost about 800 in materials. It will take about 3 months to complete the work more or less. I was  a little down about it today but I have seen some of you guys with your projects and you all sound very happy with a lot of work a head of you. I know it's a lot of money but I have to fix this car right. He told me he can work with me pay a deposit and work from there. I have not had this car very long but I bought it with the intention of not selling it but make it a very nice cruiser not a show car (well almost heheh) . Anyways I thought writing about it with fellow mopar fans would make me feel a little better. It has and I will be keeping you guys up to date as I fix the car with pics etc.. I have incrediably got even wife approval for this project for about Dec of this year. In the mean time I will be getting misc parts. I need the scoops , trunk trim , re chrome of mirrors and bumpers and interior pieces. I want to do it right even if it takes me a while. I figured if I am going to invest more than I originally thought let me do it the right way. I think this project when it is all done will cost me about 8000 dollars in blood money..:)  Anyways I am gonna hold on the scoops and start accumlating other items first.  :money:

I have to get the car from the mechanic back first and at least cruise in my car for while before I let it go again for some repairs.

4Cruizn,

I am going to try to get all the pieces together the inserts and the gaskets but if I can't find them both I'll let you know and maybe work out a deal.

Thanks

Sounds as if the bodyshop guy knows the right way to fix rust. I would recommend seeing if you can talk to others who have had him do their cars and see how satisfied they were with the work and how well he stuck to the timetable and prices.

392heminut,

My mechanic recommended him. He told me a while back that he has never seen a bad job come out of his shop. He told me that he taught his sons and they have there own shop not far away. I will see if I can pull over a client or 2 if I get the chance since I am always in the general area working on the car with my mechanic. Thanks for the advise.

Well time to update this post. I am posting pics of my cars front floor pans. They are rusting through as I hope the pics show. I also have a new problem. The wiring under the dash looks like a home rig and my ignition system is only putting out 6 volts instead of twelve. My mechanics going to go through the wiring. I also included a pic of my new headers. They are already getting oxidized. My car got caught outside a couple of times and I am going to have to bring my spare cover to the mechanics shop. In Florida at this time of year we get these fast and heavy rainfalls with out warning. He told me the car was outside a couple of times in these monsoons and water got into the trunk. I have to put all new weather seals on this car they are bad. I also have to fix a hole that's in the cowl. I have many future projects unfortunately but I am taking them one at a time. I am sending the headers out to be powder coated so they won't get rusted. The problem here is after it rains it get incrediably hot and humid which does not help. Anyways hope to see this car get on the road soon.
