68 Dodge Coronet.... slowly sinking
« on: August 17, 2006 - 03:47:27 PM »
Came upon this last week while out biking (trying to get my sorry @ss into shape  :smokin: :drunk: :smokin: :faint: ) Something just told me to head down this essentially dead end road.
Anyhoo I just spotted the top of the grille, and had to venture down the road a little to see it. It's been sitting in this spot since 1990  :1zhelp: All in all 100% complete, straight, and not too bad of shape considering the vicious New England winter beatings she must of took  :bricks1:  :horse:
I knocked on the door of the closest house to this downhill deadend drop off where it was, and an older gentleman answered. He said the owner of that car owns an old antique shop just down the road. I headed straight there, but knew it was closed.  :walkaway: (it was 8:00pm)
This car is about 2 minutes from my house, and I never knew it was there  :dunno:
I will be back there to see what goes on, and what the deal is. I'll keep ya all informed.
And no, I didn't forget about the 73 Charger in storage, I just haven't had a chance to head back there, but I will try to real soon

Sad to see a car like that neglected for so long. And left to rot.  :hyper:

Well, just a quick update.
Good, and bad news.
I stopped by the antique shop. It was closed again, so I took the number off the door, and called it. A woman answered, to which I inquired about the 68..........no, not for sale  :banghead:  :walkaway: ok then, I'd still like to talk to your husband just to find out a little about the car. She took my number, thinking that'll be the end of that.  :sadwavey:
He called me an hour later  :clapping:  He said it's his daughters car, (I didn't ask further on that) The previous owner was an "an old lady who was going to donate it to the kidney foundation" (once again didn't ask further).
He said he is sending it out to be restored within the next month, and just put good tires on it to get it out of there.
Even though I could not snag it, I really hope he was being truthfull, and it will see a new life soon.  :woo:
He also has a 67 notchback Barracuda he was telling me about.
I'll keep in touch with him, and see what happens.

If it's been sitting this long, I find it hard to believe it will be moved in the next month.  :screwy: Let's hope he was honest with you.
