Charger owner but close enough....
« on: February 19, 2006 - 07:47:40 PM »
Newbie on this site, and just wanted to say hello. My car is a '68 Charger which is a very original low mileage 1 owner 318 automatic. The car has been in storage for about 20 years and it is time for it to reappear.

I plan on taking out the original 318 (put it in storage since it is the original motor) and replace it with a built vintage 340. My plans are for it to appear old-school but to have some more serious power than the 318 can deliver. I want to retain the small block components like tranny, etc.

I'm sure I'll have some questions about building the 340. So far I have a '69 std. bore block, stock crank and rods, and am on the verge of getting some X heads.

Thanks for all the welcomes. The next warm day (I'm in the northeast) I'll pull the car out and take some pictures to post. I do have a picture of the car the day it was purchased new (by my mother) in 1968 and will have to get it scanned so I can post it.

This is a great site and has much more active members than other Mopar sites I've been to so far. I've already learned so much and it helps becuase this car is really special to me.

Love those small block muscle cars.

Absolutely Beautiful - It inspires my internal fountain of youth. That was my first car, a 1969 Charger SE. I bought it off of my brother who had been drafted into the Army - Thank You, Uncle Sam. :wavingflag:
