Year One parts
« on: September 15, 2006 - 08:20:06 AM »
Can anyone tell me if this is just a onetime deal. I have a friend who bought two front fenders for his Mustang from Year One. The salesman told him over the phone that the parts would be about 3 months out. This was ok and fit into his build schedule. A couple weeks later he called YO back to check on the ETA of the fenders and they told him the parts were pushed out another three months and they would be coming from Asia and not the US even though Year One is so very pro-US made. So, my friends creditcard has been billed for parts that he may or may not see in the next 6mnths. And, he wasn't expecting perfectly matching parts anyway but what kind of quality can he expect to see now for what I would think would be some pretty common items?

Well Year One is a good company, but they do not stock many parts.  Many of the parts you order from them will take a little time because they first have to order them.  I guess you could label them as a parts reseller.  Their parts are usually of real good quality because they order from some of the better companies.
I do not know why the mustang parts are taking so long, but the Ford parts are the newest addition to their lineup, so it may take a while to get them.
Your friend should be able to get a refund since it is Year One's fault for misleading him on the delivery date.

I prepaid for my '73 Challenger fender to get on the list in March, they have moved the delivery date to Oct. and will probably move the date again. I cancelled my order and I got a used one fixed , they refunded my credit card. That must be the way they do things (pre pay) but it does not guarantee you will get your parts when they say. :grinno:

Easy way to bet all this is email to find out first. The last time I went through their website to order would have been some 20+ orders ago and a couple of years. Email them direct it's the only way.............

I like their service and anyone outside the US will agree, they can't be beat. Rather pay a little higher prices and get them here on time and in good condition than pay someone less from "Rays Texas Grease Barn" and get ripped.

Personally i like paddock better because they stock most of the small parts, i stopped into their store front a month or so ago and they had everything except 1 hood seal right there that we picked up that day.  Only problem with paddock is they dont carry the same "plethera" of parts as yearone does. :dunno:
