Strange holes . . .

I have a gauge pod that looks to be in great condition except for the 6 holes drilled in it . . . anyone know why??  From the back of the pod, you can see they were drilled in marked spots??

Here is a pic of one I saw on E-PAY and on the backside of the bezel, there are 6 holes marked with small circles as pointed out in the pic.  All are drilled in those spots??   :clueless:

the Grand Coupe had woodgrain dash panels , I would think they are for that application
