Wiper Switch problem continues
« on: September 29, 2006 - 11:16:25 AM »
I am having a problem with my wipers, they don't want to park. I thought it was a bad wiper switch because I kept hearing a clicking that sounded like it was coming from the switch. I was then told it could be a bad ground. So with the Wiper/headlight/dimmer cluster out of the dash. I hooked up the wiper switch and ran a ground wire from the dash to the frame of the switch assembly. I try the wiper switch, it works and the wipers park.  :bananasmi I unhook the ground wire, try the switch, the wipers won't park. It appears the problem was a bad ground. But later when I hook up the ground again the wipers won't park. I messed with the ground for while but could not get the wipers to work properly.  :banghead: When I had the whole assembly in the dash there was a screw in the bottom left corner where the assembly is grounded to the dash frame. Any suggestions?

just for kicks run a secondary ground wire from the cluster to the wiper motor. couldnt hurt and you might discover where the problem really is.  :dunno:

I had a problem w/brass strap on the wiper motor being coroded on the bottom side.  Try cleaning that You can use an electrical meter to  check the resistance of the ground.  Touch batt ground and stud on the wiper for resistance.  Better for a lower value.
