Any idea why guages wouldn't work after a stereo install?
« on: October 13, 2006 - 04:50:10 PM »
Just picked up my 73 Chally after getting a deck, amp and 6x9s installed.

On my way home I noticed that my gas and tempurature guages are dead.

Any idea what they could have done to cause this? Amp guage is still working, by-the-way.

Could it be something like drawing amps/voltage away from your cluster? Stereo units can take a lot of juice......

fuse #6 goes to both fuel, temp. & oil guage via the voltage limiter, soo check/ replace the fuse, make sure everything is plugged in good and if all else fails replace the voltage limiter on the back of the insrument panel.

I agree here, I made the mistake of groundin the head unit on a car to the guage cluster(same screw as the limiter) and the limiter went south quickly.

Good luck
