Aka stainless & chrome...

I've been taking the parts off the doors for the chally and bagging them up for when everything goes back together. I noticed that the inside door handles, door locks and window cranks seem to be a bit clouded.
Has anyone else used anything to clean these up to a respectable shine? I gave some silver polish a try (only stuff I have available in the house right now), and it seemed to do an OK job.
I'll see if I can dig them out and take a pic.

rtgambit:

Try chrome polish, available at any auto parts store.  But if you don't want to leave the house and venture to the parts store, try toothpaste - I'm not kidding.  Use a paste, not a gel.  Smear it on and let it sit for a couple of hours, then wipe/wash it off.  It will get rid of the cloudy look you're speaking of.

rtgambit,  I've been using Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish for a few years and it works wonders!  Or if you want to save a few bucks, try Blue Magic....It cleans things up very well and leaves a light covering for protection.  :)
