U joint replacement
« on: October 28, 2006 - 10:05:32 AM »
I am replacing my u joints today. (one came apart last week- long story) I have the drive shaft removed already. Problem is I can't seem to find any retaining clips on the old installed caps.  Do the caps just press out or is there something holding it in?

should be a snap ring in a groove on the bottom end of the cap. press the caps in then put the snap ring on.

the clip will be inside the ear of the driveshaft usually buried under grease

Thanks guys.      I eventually found them buried in old grease.  All back together and on the road again.
