Fund Raising Idea
« on: December 01, 2006 - 05:46:19 PM »
It's 3 AM here in the Middle East and I'm not sleeping too well.  I did come up with a fund raising idea though.  How about a community garage sale of sorts?  I'm sure we've all got boxes of junk laying around the garage that we keep "just because".  A piece of trim for this or that, an old carb, an old intake, a side marker or two. Things that sit on the shelf year after year because they are too good to throw away, but you don't really have a use for.   How about a child board here for "E-Bay Donations".  By posting your E-Bay auction there you pledge to donate the proceeds toward the Cuda Guy fund.  Other members can see what you've pledged and if they are interested in an item they may even be willing to pay a few dollars more than any regular bidders since they know it's going for a good cause.  It doesn't even have to be car parts, any old thing that might fetch a few bucks on E-Bay is a few bucks more toward a good car.

I'd start the ball rolling although it's a bit hard being deployed.  I've got a few items in mind, but would have to get my son to take pictures for the ads and do the shipping.  Anybody else?

That's a great idea, to me atleast.  I live in Orlando, FL in a gated community, so we can't have garage sales unless the whole community has one.  And we just had one the 2nd week of November.  But I like the idea about e-bay and all.  I've got some parts that I'm looking for and it'd be great it the funds (or some of the funds) went to the cuda guy fund.  As I tear my car apart and replace old with new, I'll be sure to place my old stuff on e-bay or here to see if we can sell it and get some $$$ raised.  :2thumbs:

Sounds like a great idea to me.  Anymore interest or opinions?  If there is more interest, I'll start a child board for it.  Waiting to hear from you folks....

Rev is there a way to set up a baby board where we could list items for sale? of cource the proceeds from those items would the Cuda Guy.
Or should we sell our items outside of CC.Com and send the funds into you?

I will set up a child board for Ebay items and sale items.  Post everything on the board and if you happen to sell it outside the board...so be it!

Hey, I'm new, read as much about this as possible. Has anyone thought of contacting that "Over-Haulin' " show? They re-do cars (only in the southern Cali. area) for people who deserve it. They might be a possible sponsor, might even give the project some tv press too. Just a thought.

It sux that you can only get on that show if you live within 60 miles of Hunnington beach. But, it is worth a shot. I know they like to do cars that the person already owns, plus you have to think about the taxes that you have to pay on all the parts and labor from the show, it can add up to thousands quickly. What we need is a large donation from someone that just won the lottery or something.
The 50/50 worked really well.

Well, I would look into it as more of a sponsorship they could do to get the car, not to do a restoration. They would love to do a special on the day the guy gets home and sees his unexpected surprise in his driveway. they get tons of good press, he gets a better car, we get to smile....
