WTG v8440 sold his v code in 20 minutes WOW
« on: November 01, 2006 - 07:43:00 PM »
New member v8440 listed that 70 rt challenger v code on e bay last night with a 10k buy now and it sold in 20 minutes. I was amazed at the lightning fast sale.

Rebody.... here it comes!
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Went to a guy in Illinois, think we should try to keep track of it?  No titles in alabama either. I didnt think about what you just posted :bricks1:

Cody, wouldnt it be tuff to rebody that car without the title? He would have to go through a title place to get one.  I could register it for myself here where I live but it would just be a tag and registration. And then it wouldnt roll on it's own power for the frame rust.

where you live in Wa, is that by I-5? I drove through there a few times last year going to BP refinery in Blaine Wa. Saw some nice cars on that trip. Oregon troopers are really a pain in the but with out of state tags, they get you for like 2 mph over the posted on the interstate. I was driving up from Bakersfield Ca. Then from Wyoming through Montana on a different route.  I should be back working in Ca next week, I took 6 weeks off for a break from work. I wanna retire   Is wenatchee Wa close to you? I went to an Aluminum plant there. Lots of apple trees around there and a river with some big fish..STURGEONS? I think it was.

Rebodying is illegal anyways... who care about the title, its just one more legal technicality to bypass...

Hopefully this is not what the buyer is going to do... and hopefully he'll join the board, be a true mopar enthusiast (not collector nor investor) and keep us all abreadst of his restoration progress.

I don't see how that car is salvageable.  Who would want to buy it after a resto knowing how badly rusted it was? If you cut out the serialized pieces and weld them into a good body what will really be the difference in the end?  Just a thought.

ps  I wonder if the "lucky bidder"  will come through with the $$$$.

v8440 called me a few minutes ago. The buyer contacted him and said he was gonna make the arrangments on the car when he (v8440) gets back from Baton Rouge. Neil had a flat on my car trailer when he called  (85 bucks, ouch, but all is ok) The new buyer acted like he could actually put the one frame rail on, 2 quarter skins, trunk pan and floor pan. A hood is a hood. V8 said that if he would of thought it was so bad it couldnt be fixed, he would of parted it out. I wanted the dana. But the guy claims he wants it for what is is and will do what it takes to make the car back to it's full beauty.  Time will tell. I myself know, you can not swap numbers and never agree with people who think vin swapping is legal.

I have a factory original 74 challenger 440 car. It's a factory made 440 stuck in a g code challenger :roflsmiley: .  Hey I really gotta say I love all these kewl smileys. My car does look like it came that way with all the vaccum lines, charcol canister, overflow bottle, hp manifolds and such. I just gotta ditch this air cleaner on it and get the one with the snorkels sticking out. Mine has the 2 holes like the 340 cars did on the ebodies with the snorkels missing and just the holes showing.

Now guy's any car is savable in the right hands. And I wanted that car but my wife didn't agree. And many say it would be to costly, but when I total up all the parts and the price I paid for my challenger I am still under 5 grand as of right now.Now if you total in the hours of work it wouldn't be that cheap but I want my car and will do just about all the work myself. And we have to hope that there is more than one Clown out there.I hope that the new owner does join this site and rebuilds that car because I would love to see it in all of its former Glory.----The Clown

See thats the difference.  There are those of us who choose to do the work ourselves, thereby not having to "invest" great money into a project.  I have been collecting parts for my Challenger project for a while, always waiting for a deal.  I think I have less than $5k into everything I have, and yes, my car will be a major project.  I will spend it in hours though.  Do I mind?  No, I like to do the work.  I don't go to bars, and I don't play a lot of sports.  And besides, its winter 6 months a year here, so I have at least one activity that gets me out of the house.  Hopefully the new owner is one of those who will do the work and not swap out numbers for a quick buck, though, that is probably what will happen.

That makes three of us!  I wouldve loved to have that car, to bring it back to beauty.  I dont mind the work either.  Good to see that there are some of us out there who like to do this stuff.  Ha, here are some pics of my truck that I need to repair.  99.9% of people wouldve gotten a new cab.  Cabs are hard to come by up here, so Im gonna fix it.  Nothing a torch, plasma, and welder wont do!

My point was that some cars are not salveagable from a structural integrity perspective, not a cost perspective.  Sure anybody can learn to fix the typical rust in quarter panel, fenders, etc. with some metal and a mig welder.  I was referring to the severly rusted cars.  You can fix the holes in frame rails, roofs and firewalls but there will be alot of other thin metal which will not/cannot be replaced practically.

I take it that you have not seen my challenger matt63,and your right about it in a way.Not everyone could or should do what I am willing to do to have my challenger.Heres some shots of some real crappy work done many years ago by someone who tried to do a roof on the car I am redoing.
