727 torqueflite
« on: November 06, 2006 - 04:41:48 PM »
Can some one Please help? I've got a 727 torqueflite that will not shift into second gear. It will go into reverse and 1st gear with no trouble, but once in drive it will not shift up. Nothing is binding as far as the cables are concern nor does it have a vaccum line. Fluids are topped off,  so what gives :dunno: :working: Thanks in advance you guys!

Give some history on it (did it work fine yesterday, was it just rebuilt etc.)

Hey thanks tractransman, and yes the tranny was working fine the day before. I first noticed the transmission taking alittle longer to shift up , then today it would'nt shift into 2nd gear. The tranny was bought about a year ago as a rebuilt unit. Thanks again!

Check your throttle pressure linkage. See if something has changed (is the spring still pulling it back to the minimal position). Also try jacking the rear wheels off the ground and running it through the gears,(be careful) it is easier to make one upshift with the wheels off the ground. If it still does not shift than something has happened to the govenor making the pressures off. maybe drop the pan is the next step. Post what you find out .
